The new train has revolutionary advances in the field of energy efficiency, self-diagnosis, ergonomics and accessibility for passengers. Moreover, from the point of view of ICTs, the new fleet of trains makes use of wireless communications architecture designed by DeustoTech - Mobility. This communication architecture enables wireless communication in a transparent manner between the terrestrial applications (installed in de control centres), and systems and equipment deployed in the trains.

In addition to the communications architecture, the new series of trains has a number of applications, prototypes of which have also been designed by researchers at DeustoTech - Mobility. These applications facilitate the management of systems that are installed on the trains, supervise the position of each train, and monitor compliance with schedules. This will increase the safety and quality of journeys made by passengers.

This train series is the result of more than 5 years of work, in which DeustoTech - Mobility has worked with over 10 railways technology providers. Now, the final tests of the first 3 units are performing. These tests will end in December 2011, and in parallel will be produced the remaining 27 units. The expected date of completion of the manufacturing process is December 2015 and the total project cost is 201 million euros.

TRAZAMED project aims to solve the need for the drug distribution companies to satisfy the regulations established by the Ministry of Health and Consumption of Spain. These rules require the full traceability of drugs distributed to pharmacies, hospitals and other healthcare facilities. This project presents a solution to this problem based on the intelligent identification of the buckets that are used by distribution companies.

In the tests made this morning, the effectiveness of an innovative RFID antenna that can read throughout the entry area of a truck the buckets that are introduced and which have passive RFID cards. During this and future tests, Cenker and Cenfarte will support us providing the technology and vehicles required for the assembly and measurement of antennas and the detection of buckets in a real operational environment by conducting various test routes.
