The center of gravity of DeustoTech research is computer science and information technologies. For the next four years DeustoTech has been structured into six Research Units, namely:

DeustoTech Internet, focused on mobile solutions, ubiquitous computing, and ambient intelligence.

DeustoTech Telecom, focused on wireless embedded systems for ultra-low power applications.

DeustoTech Computing , focused on computational intelligence applied to security and industrial processing optimization among others fields.

DeustoTech Life, focused on advanced medical signal processing and the development of ICT tools for a better quality of life.

DeustoTech Energy, focused on energy smartgrids, environmental energy efficiency, advanced maintenance of energy facilities and the electrical automobile.

DeustoTech Mobility, focused on wireless vehicle communications, services for intelligent transport, ICT services for tourism, and logistics.

DeustoTech Learning, focused on the design, implementation and use of ICT for its application in different educational and learning environments and contexts (school, university, vocational training, life-long learning and outreach to the general public).
